Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Fun Page?
A fun page is an individual URL from within your site that contains one piece of content. It can be a game, a funny joke, picture, video, flash, etc. Our program is completely content-based, and thus we do not promote main pages or directory pages.

What is a Credit?
One credit earns you one clickthrough to one of your fun pages. When you have 5 or more fun pages in your account, your pages become eligible to receive traffic using your available credits. You earn 4 credits by sending 5 clickthroughs to FPE by promoting our links, and you can also purchase additional credits.

How do I claim my 500 free credits?
Display 10 or more FPE links on your website, and we'll give you 500 FREE credits! Send an us e-mail with your username and the URL where your links are displayed, and we'll add 500 credits to your account. This is in addition to the credits you will earn from the traffic your links generate. This offer can only be claimed once per account. Links must be placed on your main and/or content pages where all visitors will see them.

How do you determine which links appear?
Every 60 seconds, the FPE system picks 5 pages each from 20 different users with available pages and credits. These 100 pages are rotated until a new group of pages are randomly picked.

Why are my links inactive?
You must have at least 5 active pages and 100 credits in your account for your links to be active (advertised on other members' websites and/or newsletters). All new accounts start out with 100 credits.

Can I earn multiple credits from one visitor?
Yes! Our system is based upon raw clickthroughs, not unique visitors. For every 5 clickthroughs you generate, you will earn 4 credits.

Can I just promote just one page of my site?
Our program is designed to promote multiple content pages. This is what makes FPE different from other advertising programs. It is also what makes FPE more effective for promoting content-based websites.

How do I temporarily stop incoming traffic to my fun pages?
Disabling your pages will stop them from appearing on website links, and will make them unavailable for future newsletter linking (if the option is enabled). However, it will not interrupt incoming traffic from existing newsletter links. If you wish to stop incoming traffic from newsletter links that have already been advertised, you can do so by disabling newsletter linking in your control panel.

What happens if I advertise a page, and it runs out of credits or becomes unavailable?
The visitor will be sent to a page with 100 FPE links, and a message will appear saying the page is not available. The visitor can then click on any of the links on the page and you'll receive credit for any clickthroughs generated.

How do I make my pages eligible for newsletter linking?
You must have newsletter links enabled in your member profile, and at least 5,000 credits in your account for your pages to be made available for newsletter linking. 5 active pages are required, but 20 are recommended.

I enabled newsletter linking. Why aren't my pages showing up in the Get Code section?
As a precaution, you cannot see your own links in your account. This is to prevent members from accidentally running their own links.

What are the advantages of listing more fun pages in my account?
Having more links available in your account allows you to get traffic to as much of your website as possible. We recommend having at least 20 fun pages in your account, though only 5 are required.

Why are my Hits Out much larger than my Hits In?
The Hits In total only reflects hits in to current pages in your account. If you delete a page, the hits in stats for that page will be deleted.

Why does the number of hits I've received not match the number on my website's hit counter and/or referer log?
If a visitor clicks on more than one of your fun page links, it will use up multiple credits, but only count as one unique visitor. Make sure to check total page views and not just uniques. Newsletter traffic may not show up in your website's referer log because clicks are generated from an email client.

Why are my links appearing on my own link boxes?
This may happen from time to time. Rest assured that when your own links are clicked, no credits are deducted from your FPE account.

Why does my credit balance seem to be going down even when it's under 100?
The page rotation is refreshed every minute, but you may still receive incoming clicks from websites that were viewed before your pages became inactive. If you are using newsletter links, incoming hits from advertised links will also contribute to this.
